¡HOLA!
Well
I think this is the hardest email of all to write. I know I have to
write a letter because it´s the last one I´ll be able to write during my
mission but I don´t feel like writing a letter because I´ll be able to
see you all soon.
Well instead of writing about what lies ahead this week I´m going to write about what´s already happened.
First
of all today we went to a place in my mission that´s called San Jose de
Maipo. It's pure mountains and fields. It actually reminded me A LOT of
utah and I felt like I wasn´t even in Chile. Unfortunately when we were
walking around I stepped up and hit my head on a big branch. I got a
goose egg on my head. I don´t think I´ve had one since I was like 8
years old. haha.
Last Monday I was thinking that the week was going to be normal
and that I would have plenty of time to work in our area, unfortunately
it didn´t work out like that. The assistants called us Monday night and
told me that I had to attend a workshop Tuesday and Wednesday. The
workshop went until about 2:00pm each day and was focused on teaching us
how to find a job and have good interviews when we get back. They
basically told us "Your mission is over, now you have to go home get
married, get a job, and study" It´s strong enough to make anyone
"trunky". The good thing about the workshop was that I was able to go on
companion exchanges with Hna. Castellón. It was so much fun to be with
her. We talked the whole time, which was a little funny because when we
were companions I didn´t really talk that much. We went out to lunch
together both days and on Wednesday we had time to work together in her
sector, Pocuro, for a little bit. Oh so here in Chile the students
protest about the educational system and on Wednesday there had been a
big protest in Pocuro. We didn´t see the protest, just the aftermath.
There was a whole block with broken glass in the streets and all the
streetlights were broken, also we could still feel the teargas in the
air. It was pretty cool. ;)
On Friday we had a BBQ with the Saldaña family. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!
I love that family so much. Hno. Saldaña is the ward mission leader,
and him and his family work with us a lot. Their house is like my home
here in Chile. We´re going to have a Family Home Evening with them
tonight and with some investigators. Actually one of our investigators
is going to teach the lesson with the help of a member. It was pretty
funny, normally we call him to make sure he´s going to attend the FHE
but today he called us to make sure we were going. haha.
Saturday we had a day full of activities in the church. Starting
at 10am we had a ward service activity of cleaning the church. Hna.
Zuñiga and I cleaned the baptismal font, I know a suiting assignment for
missionaries. Then from 1:30-3pm we ate lunch in the church and watched
17 miracles. It was the first time Hna. Zuñiga had seen it and she
cried so much. Honestly who doesn´t cry during that movie. I love it!!
Then in the afternoon from 4-5 we had a sector slam. The idea was that
we´d have several members stay and go out with all the missionaries in
our stake but unfortunately we only had 2 members stay. I still really
enjoyed the sector slam. I went on exchanges with Hna. De Young and I
tried practicing my english. Just to let you know it´s REALLY bad and
really hard for me to carry out conversations in English. Please be
patient with me when I get back and try not to make fun of me too much.
haha.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND I´M SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU!! Have a great week and I´ll see you next week... (WEIRD!!)
-Hna. Howe
